Pure Joy!

As I’ve mentioned before, on my phone I keep an ongoing list of everything that is currently bringing me joy: recipes, a fun striped top, little everyday moments, a piece of vintage art that speaks to me, literally anything and everything that brings a smile to my face. It’s an easy exercise in appreciating all the beauty that surrounds you and in recognizing and soaking up all of life’s joyful moments. Here’s what made the list this week:

  • This article on Countess Wiltraud von Salm-Hoogstraeten and her sprawling eccentric estate in Southampton

  • The slight drop in temperature before a storm rolls in

  • This dress from La Veste. I saw it styled open as a vest over a swimsuit and immediately bought it on the spot. I think it would also be chic with micro shorts or even paired with pants going into fall

  • Astrid singing ‘Sea of Love’ to her baby doll. Since she was a newborn, I’ve sung Sea of Love to her while rocking her to sleep. This week I caught a moment of her rocking her own baby doll and singing it to her. I melted into a complete puddle of love right there on the playroom floor

  • Receiving an early copy of Frederic magazine’s August issue that my garden is featured in!

  • This white dress from J.Crew:

  • Our next door neighbor who graciously lets us pop in for a swim in her pool whenever we want

  • “Maximizing the joy out of life” - While at Fenimore Lane design summit, my friend Lindy described having four kids as “maximizing the joy out of life” - and it has stuck with me ever sense. Isn’t that the point of it all?

  • Petra shell necklace with tassel. We’ve all seen the silver version for summer but I’m eyeing it in the gold colorway with ivory tassel for autumn
